Portrait night with Dudley Svendsgaard. Two charcoal, gel pen, pencil and grey colour pencil portraits from a wine-bar opening in Amsterdam. Why did I give away the original of the top portrait? Wine, that’s why.
100 x 40cm drawing of cow parsley in Osdorp. Ink, pencil, crayon, charcoal, brush pen.
Not going out—drawn in pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink. The idea was that the city skyline (a mix of Poole, Amsterdam and Jakarta) was sort of reflecting the things on the washing line. I also love how you can create space with just a line. That always tickles me.
Also shown is the original idea in my ideas book. I’ve had this one book for years, which I don’t show anyone because everything’s drawn so badly. But it’s where I put the ideas down so I don’t forget them. Sometimes it’s ages before I actually draw one up properly. This was one of those.
