Another ink sketch from around Friesland. Also near where I live. Same great Belarusian ink as last time, but different paper.
Somewhere in Firdgum tonight
Early evening, early summer trees from near where I live.
Sometimes, just getting a new bottle of ink is like having a new car to drive around in, or a new instrument to play. This is some nice black ink from Belarus that my friend Katsia kindly gave me.
Planet Jakarta
Another pen and ink from 1998. This one did get used in the book, at least in the first edition. I’m not sure if it made it to the later reprints.
Jakarta street drawing—print
A print of my Jakarta street drawing at 57 x 9 inches on its way to Feny in Portland. Thank you Feny.
This is a print of a long (83 x 12 inches) pen & ink drawing I made in 1998 for a book I wrote about Jakarta, but which was never used in the end. Drawn with a Rotring Isograph if you remember them. Great pens. If you’re into pens.
My back garden this morning
Oudebildtdijk
A print of Westhoek at 15×7″ on its way from Etsy to Alicia in Washington. (Thank you Alicia.) Printed on 230gsm Olmec fine art paper by King of Herrings @kingherrings.
Painted in ink, plus pencil and black biro. This is the view of the Oudebildtdijk from the sea dike at Westhoek. No one who isn’t Dutch can actually pronounce “Oudebildtdijk”. It’s impossible. But apparently it’s the longest street in the Netherlands, and where I live.
Reykjavik from the hotel
Actually
A date with Pablo Picasso and David Hockney. Nice. But who’s the third person in the illustration, the one sketching these two giants? Why, that’s you dear viewer. You!
This is No.2 in my series of date nights with people I’d like to meet but obviously never will.
Gail’s plant in Wormerveer
Two quick ink and pencil sketchbook drawings of Gail’s plant (from when Gail was still staying with me in Wormerveer). I was a little bit drunk when I made this. Is it OK to admit that? Normally I wouldn’t make a point of combining the two things.
