Montage for The Economist. Many big thanks to Graham James.

This poor bugger was just lying there in the road, one eye completely popped out, cars slowly driving around it. I picked it up out the road and put it in under a bush. I really wasn’t too sure what to make of it all.
Drawn from memory in pencil, colour pencil, pastel and acrylic pen, on Cachet recycled paper.
A portrait of Al Bowlly—’The Big Swoon’ as they called him. A picture version of ‘Riptide‘… torn between two loves, the old and the new… from Mozambique to bombing raids on London. Where will it take me? What shall I do?
